Timeline
The typical Gemstone team research timeline is as follows (from the Gemstone website):
Sophomore year, fall semester: develop a specific research question, and collect and review literature. Complete an initial draft of the research proposal.
Sophomore year, spring semester: finalize a team thesis proposal and present it to committee. Identify the instrument(s) that will be used for data collection. Continue reading and summarizing literature.
Junior year, fall semester: implement original research; make an outline for the team thesis; identify experts to help guide your project. Present research progress at the Fall Junior Colloquia. <-- We are currently in this stage!
Junior year, spring semester: complete data collection and analysis by the end of this semester; write a draft of the first part of the team thesis; send draft to experts for comments and suggestions; present progress with a poster on Undergraduate Research Day.
Senior year, fall semester: redraft thesis based on completed research and input from experts/future discussants. Prepare thesis presentation.
Senior year, spring semester: complete team thesis; present and defend thesis at Team Thesis Conference; submit final thesis including changes suggested by expert discussants; receive citation at the Gemstone Citation Ceremony.
