Dr. Susan Dwyer
Susan Dwyer (Ph.D., MIT) is Associate Professor of Philosophy. The focus of her primary research is moral psychology, especially as it can be pursued as a branch of cognitive science. Her current work concerns the question of what makes moral attention and moral judgment possible. In addition, Dwyer has ongoing research and teaching interests at the intersection of law, public policy, and moral philosophy (e.g., abortion, pornography), transitional justice and moral psychology (e.g., reconciliation), and feminist theory.
Dr. Dwyer first learned about Team MORALS when Natalie, the author of the original project sheet, contacted her and asked her to vet the project. After MORALS made it through all three rounds of voting and became an official Gemstone team of the 2017 cohort, Dr. Dwyer agreed to be the team's mentor.
