The End of the Semester

As our first full semester as a team draws to a close, we'd like to recap what we've accomplished and/or experienced over the last few months, and what we're looking forward to for next semester:

1) We submitted our first drafts of our literature review and methodology to the Gemstone staff. We are currently working on the first draft of our thesis proposal. We have drastically overhauled our literature review, based on our slightly new research direction. Our thesis proposal presentation will occur in early February 2015.

2) We learned a lot about team dynamics. Communication, accountability, trust, and prioritization of academics/activities are all very important in the success of a team. Working on a project like this with eight other undergraduate students is definitely something none of us have ever done before.

3) We had some non-academic team bonding at Dr. Dwyer's house! We had a spaghetti dinner and played darts and pool--our team learned that we have a long way to go before we're very good at pool. We also met our unofficial team mascot, Dr. Dwyer's dog Bode.

4) After our thesis proposal in February 2015, we will be working on Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval, and then begin beta testing our survey.

We wish everyone a good rest of the semester, happy holidays, and a restful winter break, and we will be back in January for the spring semester of our sophomore year!
